Man Arrested: Woman Dies in Jet Ski Crash

A man has been arrested and charged following a fatal jet ski accident on the Harlem River that claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman.

Police in New York have charged a 27-year-old man following a fatal jet ski accident near Randall’s Island that claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman.

According to the New York Police Department, the accident occurred late Saturday night when two jet skis collided on the Harlem River. Four people were involved in the incident.

The woman was taken to a hospital in Harlem, where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released, PEOPLE reports.

Four Thrown Into the Water

Preliminary police information indicates that two people were riding each of the jet skis involved.

The collision was so severe that all four occupants were thrown into the water. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene.

Rescue crews brought the woman ashore and drove her to the hospital, but her life could not be saved, according to PEOPLE.

Investigation Continues

The day after the accident, police arrested Yeisson Reyes-Rodriguez, of Passaic, New Jersey.

He has been charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide involving a vessel. According to jail records, he is being held on Rikers Island on $25,000 bail.

His next court appearance is scheduled for June 26. Meanwhile, investigators continue to work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident, PEOPLE reports.
