Brewing a rebellion
A powerful faction of right-wing figures is quietly preparing to strike out on its own. They spent the weekend drafting plans for a rogue movement targeting the Republican establishment.
The strategy sessions took place at the Maine home of Tucker Carlson. A photograph shared online by Marjorie Taylor Greene showed her at the estate alongside Representative Thomas Massie and former official Joe Kent.
According to Politico cited by Onet, the group wants to launch an independent presidential campaign to pull the United States out of foreign conflicts completely.
A bitter split
Greene, Massie, and Carlson all heavily backed Donald Trump. Now, they are furiously cutting ties as the administration supports military operations in the Middle East.
The anger boiled over in Greene’s recent post. “We said ‘no more foreign wars,’ we meant it, and we supported Donald Trump because he made that promise. But he betrayed us all,” she wrote.
Kent explained the shifting tides during an interview with The Young Turks. He said the group gathered to organize unified resistance to the war in Iran.
Chasing a leader
The path forward is incredibly complicated. Independent campaigns require massive funds and must navigate strict ballot rules in every state.
Kent openly admitted the steep challenge. “But we’ve come to a certain consensus that the current system simply isn’t working, and we need to find something new to save our country,” he told the program.
The coalition does not even have an official candidate yet. Kent revealed that everyone at the meeting begged Carlson to run for president in 2028.
Carlson has repeatedly denied any interest in running. Still, Kent remains optimistic, adding, “Let’s hope that one day Tucker wakes up and says he’s going to run.”
Stripping the platform
If the movement launches a campaign, it will ignore standard domestic debates. Instead, the focus will remain fiercely on stopping overseas intervention.
“I think it will be a very, very simple platform that acknowledges upfront that we will disagree on a lot of domestic policy issues and a lot of social issues,” Kent explained.
He argued that presidents hold little real power over everyday domestic rules anyway.
“We agree that we do not want Israel to dictate our foreign policy. We do not want any more foreign wars,” Kent concluded.
