A sad farewell: The sixth and final season of one of Netflix’s most popular series arrives this Christmas

The series creators are giving us a small Christmas miracle before they bid farewell.

For five seasons, millions of viewers have followed Lily Collins’ American marketing executive as she navigates croissants, chic bosses, and a carousel of French men in a postcard-perfect Paris. The series has become one of Netflix’s most-watched international drama flagships and a staple on lists of the most streamed titles on the service.

But Christmas 2026 will mark its farewell.

Netflix has confirmed that Emily in Paris Season 6 will not only be the next season but also the last. The service has chosen one of the year’s most symbolic dates to conclude the series: Christmas Eve, December 24, 2026.

Lily Collins Herself Confirmed It

It was lead actress and producer Lily Collins who, back in May 2026, confirmed that Season 6 would be the series’ last. “After six unforgettable years, I’m here to share that the upcoming sixth season will be our last,” she wrote in a post reported by PinkNews, where she also promised that the season would “bring everything you love about the show and serve as the final chapter in Emily’s adventure.”

The announcement coincided with the start of production, and Netflix released the first images of Collins filming in Greece.

A Send-off Featuring Greece, Monaco, and Paris

Series creator Darren Star has stated that the finale is deliberately grander than previous seasons. “I wanted the final season to feel like the biggest Emily in Paris experience yet. We’ve been to several places this season, and Greece was a place we really wanted to showcase in a spectacular way,” he told Yahoo Entertainment.

The season was filmed in Greece, Monaco, and Paris, with production concluding in September 2026.

Season 5 ended with Emily single again after her breakup with Marcello and with a postcard from Gabriel inviting her to Greece. Netflix’s official logline for Season 6 promises that Emily faces “one last choice between her career, her heart, and the life she has built in Paris.”

The Entire Season at Once – Christmas Eve

While Seasons 4 and 5 were split into two halves, the final season will be released in its entirety. All episodes will land on Netflix on December 24, 2026, allowing viewers to binge-watch the entire final chapter during a single Christmas holiday.

The choice of Christmas Eve as the premiere date is unusual for a series typically associated with bright Parisian springs and Italian summers. However, it is also one of the days of the year when most Danish households have time, family, and a sofa for streaming – and when Netflix traditionally presents strong, high-profile titles.

Netflix’s summary of the Christmas month has already confirmed the date and a new logline describing Emily’s “new era of ambition and romance,” where “unexpected career conflicts and shifting relationships” push her to reconsider where her future truly lies.
