The latest developments involve several authorities and a criminal proceeding already moving through court. Questions about custody and mental health have become part of the dispute surrounding the pending case.
Adva Lavie, a 29-year-old model and social-media personality, was returned to custody after Beverly Hills police arrested her on a warrant obtained through an Indio Police Department investigation, according to the Los Angeles Times.
That inquiry concerns an encounter at an Airbnb in Indio last year. Police said a man who had spent time with Lavie later discovered several valuable belongings missing from his Tesla.
The property included a Rolex valued at $8,600, Louis Vuitton sunglasses worth about $700 and a Louis Vuitton card holder valued at nearly $2,000, police spokesperson Sgt. Abe Plata told the newspaper. Investigators said surveillance footage from the residence captured the alleged incident.
Lavie’s arrest also revealed another issue. Beverly Hills officers learned that she had removed a GPS ankle monitor that she had been required to wear under a court order.
Prosecutors later raised her custody status during proceedings in Los Angeles County Superior Court. They referred to a jail call in which Lavie discussed going to Israel and argued that the conversation supported their position that she posed a flight risk. She is being housed in the mental health area of the county jail system.
At the time of the arrest, Lavie was already facing four felony charges in Los Angeles County. She has pleaded not guilty.
Los Angeles charges remain pending
Lavie faces two counts of grand theft and two counts of first-degree residential burglary in Los Angeles County. According to the Los Angeles Times, she could receive up to 11 years and eight months in prison if convicted.
Prosecutors allege the charges involve people Lavie met through dating apps, social media or personal relationships between 2023 and 2025, with cash, gold and luxury goods among the property allegedly taken.
Court records cited by the newspaper describe a 78-year-old man who had been dating Lavie. Prosecutors say $17,500 in cash, $100,000 in designer clothing and $4,000 in gold coins were taken from his Van Nuys home. Some of the clothing allegedly later appeared in a TikTok apartment video posted by Lavie.
Authorities have received additional reports beyond the four pending counts. More than 10 potential victims contacted investigators after the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department released Lavie’s photograph, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Police reports have also been filed in Hermosa Beach, Henderson, Fort Lauderdale, France and Italy, though not all have resulted in criminal charges.
Billionaire businessman and former California gubernatorial candidate Stephen Cloobeck, who previously had a relationship with Lavie, has separately pleaded not guilty to witness tampering connected with her prosecution.
Mental health request denied
Lavie’s attorneys have also tried to move her into a mental health diversion program rather than continue with the case in its current form.
The defense argued that Lavie had experienced physical and sexual abuse, had been sex trafficked and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. Attorney Jeremy Lessem told the court that she had a “qualifying mental illness, primarily PTSD.”
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Diego H. Edber rejected the request after reviewing evaluations prepared by defense experts. According to the Los Angeles Times, the judge questioned the reliability of portions of the accounts contained in those reports.
The ruling leaves the felony prosecution on the court calendar while the newer Indio matter remains under investigation.
