Lindsey Graham rolls over in his grave as sister embarrasses herself during debate

The disastrous debate from the Senator may cost Trump a key alley before the general election begins.

The late senator from South Carolina, Lindsey Graham, passed away unexpectedly in early July this year.

President Donald Trump made a gesture he thought would be a tribute to Graham and beneficial to him.

But now it seems as though that strategic move might be backfiring.

Trump appoints Graham’s sister

Donald Trump thought he had a grand idea when he appointed Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darline, to represent South Carolina as senator. There is one big problem: she is up for re-election this upcoming midterm election and she seems woefully unprepared.

Last night, Darline Graham participated in the only televised debate before people in South Carolina vote for who they want their Republican representative to be in the general election this coming November. And it did not go well.

That could prove costly, as the debate will be instrumental in determining which candidate gets elected.

Drawing blanks up on the podium

During one particular moment, Darline seemed to trip over a national security question about Taiwan and China that showcased her political inexperience.

She answered the question by saying that she is “not that informed on national security.”

The Daily Beast reports that the response from Graham drew intense booing from the audience.

A stark contrast

Her response was not only unpopular, but also quite the opposite of what her brother was known for.

Lindsey Graham was a big proponent of American aid to Ukraine, even though he was a loyal Trump supporter. He was also a big advocate of the Israeli state.

The foreign policy gaffe was not the only problem Lindsey’s sister ran into last night at the opera house in South Carolina, where the debate was held.

She said that there are 50 million people living in South Carolina. The official population is 5.5 million. Some of them will vote next week on whether they want Darline Graham to be their GOP candidate for the Senate.
