The tensions between the UK and Russia is increasin after the UK shared blueprints for high-tech missiles with Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has left world leaders guessing after refusing to rule out strikes on British targets.
When asked if Moscow was weighing attacks, he stayed silent on specifics. It is a “military secret,” Putin said, according to The Daily Express and Sky News.
The chilling response, which came during Putin’s speech at a conference in Kyrgyzstan, follows a move by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to share high-tech missile blueprints with Kyiv. Under the agreement, defence firm MBDA will declassify details for the Scalp long-range missile. The French weapon shares vital components with Britain’s Storm Shadow arsenal.
Ukraine plans to build its own assembly lines to produce the weapons. Kremlin officials reacted with fury, warning that London is playing with fire.
Russia’s embassy in London directly accused Britain of becoming “an accomplice and co-perpetrator” in recent attacks deep inside its borders. Officials in Moscow added that the British government was deliberately opting for escalation.
Standing firm
Despite severe warnings from the Kremlin, officials in London insist they will not bow to intimidation. British leaders made clear that their support for Kyiv remains absolute.
According to the Ministry of Defence, “Britain stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, and we are committed to providing the equipment Ukraine needs to defend itself against Putin’s illegal invasion.”
Spokespeople maintained that Western resolve will not falter. “Russia should be in no doubt about the resolve of this Government to stand against Russian aggression, in Ukraine and against the UK and our allies,” the Ministry of Defence added.
Draft rumors dismissed
At the same time, questions are swirling around Russia’s future military recruitment plans. During a press briefing at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kyrgyzstan, journalists questioned whether another draft was on the horizon.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously warned that Moscow intended to mobilize 300,000 personnel in 2026 and another 300,000 in 2027. The claims raised widespread concern.
Putin forcefully interrupted the reporter before the question could be finished. “This is absolute nonsense. This is an information attack on Russia,” he declared.
