The 84-year-old GOP Senator was hospitalized mid-June and has been absent from congress ever since despite being discharged.
Pressure on Senator Mitch McConnell is reaching a boiling point.
The Kentucky Republican has been away from Congress for nearly three months.
Now, prominent voices on the right are demanding action.
Fox News contributor Joe Concha did not hold back on The Big Weekend Show. He suggested the 84-year-old needs to make a tough choice.
“If he does not come back in September, he needs to step down,” Concha said.

Proof of life
The senator went to the hospital in mid-June. His office initially kept details quiet. Later, an email update revealed he had fallen and developed mild pneumonia.
For Concha, written updates fall short. “I don’t want to see, you know, proof of life photos from a hospital bed anymore. He needs to get in front of a microphone and prove that he can do this job. And if he can’t, he needs to step aside. Period,” he said on the broadcast.
Despite being discharged from a rehabilitation center in August, McConnell has yet to return to Congress.
Allies in the dark
In early August, McConnell released a statement explaining his recovery.
“On the advice of my doctors, I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I’ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business,” he said.
Many Republican colleagues remain out of the loop. Senator Tommy Tuberville told reporters on August 5 that he had no new information.
“I don’t know anything,” he stated.
Calls for clarity
Rep. James Comer expressed hope for a swift return for the GOP senator, suggesting he would explain any further delays.
Fox News co-host Tomi Lahren pushed back. She argued it is unfair to citizens if unelected staff members run things, adding, “I think you’ve gotta play it fair here.”
The demands cross party lines. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear recently urged McConnell to “directly and verbally address the people of Kentucky and provide proof of your capacity to serve, or resign.”
