“It’s a hoax!”: Trump called Nvidia CEO while on stage at conference to vent

While Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, which is one of the biggest AI companies in the world, was on stage at a conference, he got a surprise phone call.

The call came from none other than the President of the United States himself.

Donald Trump wanted to chat about the recent criticism of AI. It is safe to say, he does not agree with it.

Trump calls Huang to vent

Over the past couple of weeks, there have been pleas from all over to regulate the AI business.

Even some AI leaders are afraid that the development of artificial intelligence is going too fast.

Trump vehemently disagrees with that sentiment. So he called one of the most powerful and influential people in the AI industry.

Trump did not seem to care that Huang was speaking at a tech conference. He went right into the issue and said that a lot of people who want to see a slowdown in AI development were “political people,” alluding to Democrats, or “it could also be China.”

Trump and Huang are in agreement

While the co-founder of Anthropic may want to put up safeguards around AI, Huang and Trump are in agreement: that is not going to happen.

On the sentiment that unregulated AI is dangerous, Trump said, “It’s a hoax…”—but before Trump could finish his sentence, Huang interjected.

“You’re right, we’re not going to let that happen, sir,” the CEO of Nvidia said in unison with Trump to great applause from the crowd.

There was also time for some hijinks between the two. Trump grilled Huang after he had trouble putting him on speakerphone.

“Jensen can develop the most complex computer chip in the world that nobody can copy, but he can’t figure out how to put me on speaker,” Trump said to great laughter from the crowd.
