Trump also blamed Zelensky for being the biggest obstacle to a peace deal.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he would be open to taking part in a trilateral summit between him, Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

According to Trump, the summit, which has not been finalized yet, would focus on nuclear disarmament and less on the war in Ukraine.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal published on Monday, the Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the Kremlin was floating a trilateral summit between Putin, Trump and Xi to discuss Ukraine.

The spokesperson also said that Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, would not be invited to the summit.

Trump: Russia has ‘been fine’

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Trump said that Russia “has been fine” on Ukraine, slamming Kyiv for being the real reason for a peace deal not being made.

“Zelensky is a man that should’ve had this war settled a long time ago. If he would’ve listened to me, he would’ve made a much better deal a long time ago and he’d have a million people living… I think it’s time for somebody else to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine,” he told reporters.

Gone “full Putin”

Trump’s remarks have not gone unnoticed, with former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt posting on X that Trump has gone “full Putin.”

“In the series of truly remarkable statements by Trump this ranks very high. He’s gone ‘full Putin,'” the former PM said.
