A popular brand of baked beans has been pulled from shelves due to an undeclared allergen.

A batch of canned beans sold at major U.S. retailers—including Walmart, Hy-Vee, Meijer, and others—has been recalled due to an undeclared soy allergen, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has announced.

What’s Being Recalled?

  • Product: Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans
  • Size: 15-ounce cans
  • Best-by Date: February 17, 2028

The recall affects products distributed through Walmart, Hy-Vee, Meijer, KVAT Food Stores, and Associated Wholesale Grocers.

The recalled beans were sold in the following 23 U.S. states: Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.

Why Were They Recalled?

The issue stems from undeclared soy, a common food allergen.

Because the packaging does not list soy as an ingredient, people with soy allergies could unknowingly consume the beans and face serious health risks, including anaphylaxis—a potentially life-threatening reaction.
