What has happened?

2 employees of the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC has been shot dead Wednesday at aroun 9 PM.

A 30 year-old man named Elias Rodriguez has been arrested according to Washington PD.

Where did it happen?

According to news reports, the shooting happened outside The Jewish Museum during an event held by the American-Jewish comitee in DC.

Who are the victims?

According to CNN, the victims are a man and a woman.

According to the Israeli ambassador, they were a “young couple about to be engaged”.

The shooting

According to reports, the suspect paced back and forth outside the museum ahead of the shooting.

At some point, the suspect approached a group of four people and opened fire with a handgun.

Discarded the weapon

Accorrding to witnesses, the suspect then entered the museum and was detained by security.

When he had been handcuffed, he said that he dhad discardede the weapon. It has since been recovered by authorities.

Pretended to be a witness

One witness told CNN, that the suspect pretended to be a witness to the shooting and waited for authorities to arrive.

“Free Palestine!”

When the Police arrived at the scene, the suspect took accountability and said he did the shooting, adding he did it for Gaza, as well as shouting “Free Palestine!”

Not previously known by police

The suspect, Elias Rodriguez, 30, is from Chicago, Illinois and was not previously known by the police.

Concidering him a sole shooter

Police beliece Rodriguez acted alone and that there is no active threat remaining.
