The ambassador pointed to the combined landmass of the Muslim countries being 644 times the territory under Israeli control.
What is happening?

In an interview with BBC, the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, suggests that “Muslim countries” could give up some of their territory to create a Palestinian state.
644 times the territory

According to Huckabee, the Muslim countries have a combined landmass 644 times the amount of land controlled by Israel.
“So maybe, if there is such a desire for the Palestinian state, there would be someone who would say, we’d like to host it,” he said.

The ambassador also spent some of the interview lashing out at the UK and Australia for sanctioning two far-right Israeli ministers.
The reason for the sanctions is the ministers “repeated incitments of violence against Palestinian communities”.
The two-state solution

Several national leaders are supporting the idea of a two-state solution, which includes creating two states on the territory of the former Mandatory Palestine.
Huckabee called the proposal “an aspirational goal” in the interview.
No longer pursuing independent Palestinian state

In a separate interview with Bloomberg, Huckabee said the US was no longer pursuing the goal of an independent Palestinian state.
Later a State Department spokeswoman emphazised that Huckabee “speaks for himself” and pointed out that it is the US President who is reponsible for the US Policy in the Middle East.
