Eyes on familiar faces
Tottenham Hotspur’s new head coach Thomas Frank is wasting no time shaping the squad in his image and he’s doing so by turning to the players who made his Brentford reign such a success.
According to both Sky Sports, Frank is keen to reunite with his former stars, with Spurs actively pursuing deals for Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa.
Mbeumo intrigued
Mbeumo, who had been the subject of an initial £45m plus £10m bid from Manchester United, is now reportedly more open to a move to Spurs following Frank’s appointment.
The 24-year-old attacker was one of Frank’s standout performers at Brentford, and sources say the opportunity to continue working under the Danish coach is an exciting prospect.

Frank’s tactical familiarity and the possibility of an immediate starring role at Tottenham are believed to be influencing Mbeumo’s preference, despite that he was close to agreeing terms with United.
Wissa also on Frank’s transfer list
In addition to Mbeumo, SkySports reports that Thomas Frank wants Spurs to “go all in” on signing Yoane Wissa.
Congolese forward, known for his pace, pressing, and goal threat, would offer Tottenham another versatile option in attack.
His aggressive, front-foot style aligns well with Frank’s brand of football, and like Mbeumo, he represents a player the coach trusts.
If both deals come off, Frank would effectively be rebuilding the dynamic forward line that made Brentford so dangerous in transition play.
Open for business, at the right price
Brentford are said to be open to selling Mbeumo for a fee exceeding £60m, recognising his exceptional contribution last season, 20 goals, 7 assists, league-high expected assists (9.26), and a top-5 pace ranking (36.63 km/h).
His contributions were worth 22 points to Brentford’s campaign, or 40% of their total.
Wissa’s valuation hasn’t been publicly disclosed yet, but Brentford’s willingness to negotiate for their star assets suggests they’re prepared for a summer of transition specially if it enables reinvestment across the squad.
A transfer battle brewing
While Spurs gain momentum through Frank’s influence, Manchester United have not backed out. The Red Devils were the first to bid for Mbeumo and are expected to return with an improved offer soon.
They are also in the mix for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, another Spurs target, as both clubs attempt to revamp their attacking lines.
Familiarity breeds ambition
Thomas Frank’s appointment isn’t just a managerial shift, it’s a statement of style and identity. Bringing in players like Mbeumo and Wissa, who thrived under his guidance, could be the foundation of a new-look Spurs.
The challenge now lies in persuading Brentford to sell and fending off United’s growing interest.
With Mbeumo reportedly warming to the idea of a Spurs move and Wissa now in the mix, this summer could see Brentford’s attacking duo light up North London once again.
