The Princess of Wales was expected to attend Royal Ascot with Prince William, but made a last-minute decision to stay home.
Kate Middleton has canceled her appearance at Royal Ascot, one of the most anticipated events in the royal calendar.
According to the magazine HELLO!, the 43-year-old Princess of Wales made the decision shortly before the event, choosing to stay home and focus on her recovery.
Although initially listed to participate in the traditional carriage procession with Prince William and guests including golfer Justin Rose and his wife Kate Phillips, the program was adjusted at the last moment.
Sources close to the royal family told HELLO! that Kate was disappointed to miss the festivities at Berkshire, an event she usually enjoys alongside other members of the royal family.
A Gradual Return to Royal Life
Kate’s recent public appearances have sparked optimism about her recovery.
Just days ago, she joined the royal family at Trooping the Colour, wearing a Catherine Walker coat in turquoise and white.
She participated in the carriage procession with her children and appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla.
On Monday, she also attended Garter Day in Windsor, a presence many interpreted as a sign of continued progress.
However, the princess is still recovering from a serious health journey.
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2024, she underwent six months of preventive chemotherapy. Although she confirmed in January that her recovery was progressing, she has since taken a measured approach to returning to her official responsibilities.
While Kate stayed home, her mother, Carole Middleton, attended Royal Ascot along with other family members including Alizée Thevenet, and Thomas van Straubenzee—Princess Charlotte’s godfather—who was there with his wife Lucy.
