What is happening
During the weekend, the US launched “Operation Midnight Hammer” on three sites of the Iranian nuclear programme.
Afterwards, US President Donald Trump said that the nuclear programme had been completely destroyed.
New report contradicts The White House
But a new intelligence reports from the US paints a very different picture.
In fact, the reports assess that the Iranian nuclear programme is not destroyed – only set back by a couple of months at most.
White House disagrees
The White House do acknowledge the existense of the intelligence assessment, but White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, called the assessment “flat-out wrong”.
And this is proof that Trump basically doesn’t care about other realities than his own.
No basis for claims
Former Chief Analyst at the Danish Defense Intelligence Service, Jakob Kaarsbo, says to Danish TV 2, the neither Trump or Pete Hegseth have any basis for claiming the Iranian nuclear programme to be destroyed.
“It’s pure political spin,” Kaarsbo suggests.
Trump doesn’t use intelligence as other politicians
In fact, Kaarsbo believes that Trump doesn’t even use intelligence the same way as other politicians.
“When he says the nuclear programme is destroyed, and that he has created peace, that is his alternative reality – and then it doesn’t matter what the evidence actually suggest,” Kaarsbo says.
Report is probably a “career killer”
The information from the initial intelligence report from the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), a, part of Pentagons intelligence department, were leaked to CNN, who spoke with people familier with the report.
And it’s very likely that the report itself is a “career killer”, as they risk getting banned by the Trump administration for contradicting what the President said.
