Visiting the United States has become more complicated since Donald Trump returned to the White House. There have even been reports of European travelers being detained and sent home at the border.
With long flights and political tensions, many travelers are turning their attention back to Europe.
The travel platform Omio and news outlet Esquire have listed top European destinations that mirror some of the USA’s most iconic spots.
Whether it’s the Grand Canyon or the Golden Gate Bridge, these “USA dupes” offer similar experiences without visa headaches.
1. Europe’s Answer to the Golden Gate Bridge
Destination: Vasco da Gama Bridge, Lisbon
San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most famous in the world. But Europe has an impressive look-alike: the Vasco da Gama Bridge in Lisbon.
It spans the Tagus River and offers beautiful views — no long-haul flight required.
2. Europe’s Grand Canyon Alternatives
Destination: Verdon Gorge, Saxon Switzerland & the Upper Danube
Arizona’s Grand Canyon is a natural wonder — but you can get a similar feel in the Verdon Gorge in southeastern France.
With steep cliffs and turquoise water, it’s often called the “European Grand Canyon.” Plus, it’s close to the Mediterranean, making it ideal for a summer escape.
In Germany, Saxon Switzerland is a top alternative, with dramatic rock formations, deep valleys, and plenty of hiking trails. There’s also the Upper Danube Valley, sometimes called the “Swabian Grand Canyon,” perfect for outdoor lovers.

The English Garden in Munich is also a great visit, and it’s even larger than Central Park. The park features lush greenery, streams, and even pedal boats — a peaceful break from the city.

Coachella is the US’s most famous music festival, but it’s pricey and often more about selfies than music.
For a similar experience in Europe, there’s Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Roskilde Festival near Copenhagen or Germany’s MELT Festival, Superbloom, and Lollapalooza.
They deliver big acts, stylish crowds, and a great atmosphere, without the long haul or high prices. And best of all, they feel just as electric.
