A startling encounter with a grizzly bear and her cub at Grand Teton National Park served as a stark reminder of the dangers of wildlife interaction. Captured on video by a bystander, the incident involved two tourists who found themselves in a perilous situation after stopping to photograph the bears.

The tourists, standing outside their car, were focused on capturing images of the bear and her cub. However, their presence agitated the mother bear, who felt compelled to defend her young. In response, she charged at the tourists, demonstrating the impressive speed of grizzlies, which can reach up to 35mph.

A Narrow Escape

One of the tourists managed to quickly get back into the car, while the other, in a desperate move, climbed onto the vehicle’s roof. Despite grizzlies’ ability to climb, as noted by the National Park Service (NPS), the mother bear did not pursue further, instead turning her attention to another tourist nearby.
