A man in Washington DC has been charged with assaulting a federal officer after allegedly throwing a sandwich at a US Customs and Border Protection agent. The felony could mean up to a year in jail and hefty fines.
Viral Video Captures the Incident
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Sean Charles Dunn, was caught on video shouting “Fascists!” and “Shame!” at a group of patrolling officers on Sunday night before launching the sandwich.
Detective’s Account of Confrontation
According to transit police detective Daina Henry, Dunn pointed his finger in the officer’s face, yelled profanity, and accused them of being unwelcome in the city. Minutes later, he allegedly “forcefully” hurled a sub-style sandwich.

The altercation happened amid heightened tensions in DC over Donald Trump’s looming federal takeover of the city and his administration’s aggressive anti-migrant policies.

The sandwich, still in its Subway wrapper, was shown in the video lying in the street. The officer appeared uninjured. Dunn was reportedly caught soon after and admitted: “I did it. I threw a sandwich.”
