Donald Trump claims he was the one who pushed Melania to pursue legal action against Hunter Biden.

In an interview on The Brian Kilmeade Show, Trump revealed, “I let her use my lawyers,” after encouraging her to sue Biden for $1 billion over alleged defamation.

The Controversial Epstein Claim

The legal threat stems from a YouTube interview in which Hunter Biden repeated a claim that Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania to Donald Trump.

The Trumps have long disputed this, saying they met at a New York nightclub in 1998 while Trump was with another woman.

Melania’s Legal Letter Demands a Retraction

On August 12, Melania’s attorney Alejandro Brito sent a letter to Biden, calling the Epstein claim “false, defamatory, disparaging and inflammatory.”

Biden’s Blunt Response: “F— That”

Hunter Biden appeared unfazed by the lawsuit threat.

Speaking again with Andrew Callaghan after the deadline passed, he dismissed the demands, saying, “F— that. That’s not gonna happen,” and called the Trumps “bullies.”

Biden Doubts the Claim is Defamatory

Biden argued that his comments don’t meet the legal threshold for defamation.

“I don’t know how that, in any way, rises to the level of defamation,” he said, suggesting the lawsuit was meant more to intimidate than to seek justice.

Trump insisted there’s no truth to the Epstein introduction story.

“Jeffrey Epstein had nothing to do with Melania,” he told Kilmeade, adding that another person introduced them, though he didn’t name who.

Media Fallout and Retractions

Following legal pressure, The Daily Beast removed a story based on Michael Wolff’s claims that echoed Biden’s.

Wolff was also called out in Melania’s legal letter as a “serial fabulist.” Political commentator James Carville similarly retracted and apologized after making related remarks.

Melania’s Memoir Tells a Different Story

In her 2024 memoir Melania, the former first lady detailed how she met Trump at the Kit Kat Klub in Manhattan in 1998.

Trump Boasts of Legal Wins

Trump cited his own track record with lawsuits as part of the reason he backed

Melania’s action. “I’ve done pretty well with lawsuits,” he said, portraying this latest threat as part of a broader legal strategy.

Biden Offers to Host a Deposition

Taking a jab at the Trumps, Biden invited them to publicly clarify their ties to Epstein and his associates if they’re serious about transparency.

“I’m more than happy to provide them the platform,” he said sarcastically.
