A fathers’s nightmare
What would you do, if you found out your 6 year old daughter had been molested? By your own friend, even?
Most porbably would report it to authorities and leave it to the police and prosecutor, but a Russian father took it a step further back in 2021.
The horrific footage
According to several news outlets, including Daily Express, Vyacheslav Matrosov, 35. discovered footage that showed his 6-year old daughter being molested by the fathers 32-year old friend and former babysitter to the family, Oleg Sviridov.
A trip into the woods
Matrosov allegedly confronted Sviridov with the footage, which lead to the two mean going into the woods, where Matrosov forced Sviridov to dig his own grave.
Faced with murder-charges – until …
The 35-year old father was initially facing murder charges after the death of Sviridov.
However, the investigation showed that Sviridovs fatal injuries were self-inflicted.
In other words: Matrosov had either forced or coerced Sviridov to take his own life.
Strict punishment
The new information did not get Matrosov off the hook, though.
Instead, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison for encouraging Sviridov to end his own life.
A strict punishment, but far less that the 15 years, Matrosov risked if being trialed for murder.
The neighbourhood to the rescue
The local community of Samara, the region in which Matrosov lives, quickly rallied to support the 35-year old.
The residents of his town helped pay for Matrosov’s legal costs, and there was even af petition with more than 2500 signatures demanding his freedom, hailing him for “saving our children by ridding us of a child sex attacker.
Out after a year
Eventuually, Matrosov ended up serving 12 months of his 18 months sentence.
After being released, he reportedly posted a picture on social media, captioning: “Home. Love very much”.
