Ukraine will back Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says his country is prepared to nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize , but only if the former U.S. president helps secure a ceasefire with Russia and provides Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles.

Speaking to reporters in Kyiv, Zelensky outlined what he sees as a pathway to peace and a potential reason for global recognition.

“We will nominate him on behalf of Ukraine”

Zelensky made it clear that recognition would depend on concrete action.

“If Trump offers the world, especially the Ukrainian people, a chance for such a truce, then yes, he should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize,” he said.

Trump has not rejected the idea, Zelensky says

Zelensky explained that, during their meeting at the United Nations in late September, Trump did not rule out supporting Ukraine.

“We did not hear a ‘no’. What we heard was that the work will continue at the technical level and that this possibility will be considered,” he said, referring to discussions held in New York.

Tomahawk missiles could shift momentum

Ukraine has long requested long-range precision weapons.

Zelensky said the Tomahawk missile, which has a range of up to 1,500 kilometers, could “wake up the Russians a little,” by allowing Ukraine to strike deeper into Russian territory.

Trump undecided but cautious about escalation

Trump told reporters on Monday that he’s close to a decision regarding Ukraine’s missile request.

“I’ve kind of made a decision,” he said.

“I think I want to find out what they’re going to do with them, where they’re going to send them, I guess. I have to ask that question.”

He also expressed concern about escalating the conflict further.

Trump has previously claimed credit for ending multiple wars and has actively campaigned for a Nobel nomination.

He even contacted former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, now Norway’s finance minister, to inquire about his candidacy.

Zelensky’s comments now offer a path that could lead him closer to that goal, with conditions attached.

Russia warns that missile deliveries would escalate war

Russia’s Foreign Ministry quickly responded to the possibility of U.S. missile support.

Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that delivering Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine “would lead to a new serious stage of escalation of the Ukrainian crisis, but would also cause irreparable damage to Russian-American relations.”
