Grint also confirmed he personally reached out to the child actor now taking over as Ron in HBO’s upcoming remake, which is filming the first book for release in 2027.
The new cast, reported by BBC News, is roughly the same age Grint and his co-stars were when they began.
He said he wrote a letter to 11-year-old Alastair Stout “passing the baton” and wishing him well.
Grint added that he hopes the new adaptation finds its own voice, despite criticism from original director Chris Columbus, who suggested it mirrors the films too closely.
keeping distance
When asked by BBC News about the current tension between Emma Watson and author JK Rowling, Grint chose not to address the dispute.

Asked whether he might also reprise his role someday, Grint responded, “never say never.”
He said he is currently enjoying a life beyond the wizarding world, noting that rewatching the films with his children has shifted his relationship with the series.
