A 21-year-old mother from Georgia, US, has been charged with murdering both of her baby sons in incidents three years apart, according to state investigators.

Two infant deaths linked

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced the arrest of Dakota Nicole Taylor of Wrens on November 20.

She faces two counts each of malice murder, felony murder and first-degree cruelty to children in connection with the deaths of her sons in 2021 and 2025.

The most recent case surfaced on January 8, 2025, when Jefferson County deputies responded to a home on Mt. Moriah Road in Matthews.

Taylor’s 8-month-old son, Caleb, was found unresponsive and later died at a nearby hospital.

A lengthy investigation followed, ultimately leading to Taylor’s arrest.

Earlier death reclassified

At the time she was taken into custody, Taylor was already being held on unrelated charges in DeKalb County stemming from the 2021 death of her 7-month-old son, Micah.

Micah’s death had initially been ruled undetermined. But according to a grand jury arrest warrant reviewed by WRDW/WAGT, new evidence emerged after Caleb’s death.

Authorities now allege Taylor obstructed Micah’s airways and caused his death in September 2021.

Body-camera footage described in the warrant shows officers responding to a group home where Micah was found unresponsive after a bath.

Officers noted Taylor’s reaction as unusually calm, describing her as “nonchalant.”

Oxygen deprivation alleged

In Caleb’s case, investigators allege Taylor deprived the infant of oxygen, causing “excessive physical and mental pain.”

A criminal warrant obtained by PEOPLE states she suffocated the child while committing felony cruelty to children.

Taylor is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail and has been denied bond. It remains unclear whether she has legal representation.

The GBI says the case remains active and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
