His family says new medical details due to be released soon will challenge the official version of events.

According to the Daily Record, Epstein’s brother insists the long-standing suicide ruling will not stand.

Death under scrutiny

Jeffrey Epstein, 66, was discovered dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Authorities concluded he died by suicide, a finding later upheld by multiple official investigations.

Despite that, the case has remained the focus of intense speculation.
Conspiracy theories have persisted, often suggesting Epstein was killed to prevent him implicating powerful figures.

Mark Epstein, who identified his brother’s body, has repeatedly rejected the official conclusion.

Brother’s claim

“There are only three ways to die in prison,” Mark Epstein said. “Suicide, natural causes or murder. And Jeff was murdered. I want to know who killed him and on whose behalf.”

Speaking to NewsNation, the 71-year-old said new autopsy information expected next month would support his belief.

“Jeffrey was murdered, and more autopsy facts will be coming out in February that prove it,” he said.

He also claimed the injuries he observed “didn’t correspond to the way his body was found hanging”.
The Mirror reported that Mark Epstein has maintained this position since 2019.

Maxwell doubts suicide

Doubts have also been voiced by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former associate.
Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for her role in his sex trafficking operation.

Transcripts cited in the Daily Record show she was asked about Epstein’s death during testimony to deputy attorney general Todd Blanche in July 2025.
“I do not believe he died by suicide, no,” she said, while adding: “I don’t know” who might have been responsible.

Maxwell said she had no evidence pointing to murder, despite her disbelief in the suicide finding.

Official findings stand

After Epstein’s death, Mark Epstein hired former New York City chief medical examiner Dr Michael Baden to observe the autopsy.
Dr Baden later said the evidence “points to homicide rather than suicide”.

However, official reviews have consistently upheld the suicide ruling.
A 2023 US Department of Justice inspector general report cited serious failures in prison oversight but concluded no one else was involved.

Despite those findings, Epstein’s death continues to fuel controversy, with renewed attention now focused on the promised release of further autopsy details.
