Tuesday, the PM’s of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, and Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, held a joint press meeting, during which Nielsen said, that “if we have to choose between the US and Denmark here and now, we choose Denmark, Nato and the EU.”
After the press meeting, U.S. President Donald Trump was asked what he thought of the Greenlandic PM’s statement, to which the POTUS first asked “who said that” and then, after being told, it was Nielsen, Trump said:
“I disagree with him. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know anything about him. But, that’s going to be a big problem for him,” according to The Guardian.
To be fair, most people probably did not know who Jens-Frederik Nielsen, who is the PM of a Greenlandic population of about 55,000 people, were before Trump revived the desire to take control of Greenland.
But nine months ago, Trump had something entirely different to say about the Greenlandic PM.

Danish TV 2 has found a clip from a press meeting in the White House from mid-March 2025, where Trump was asked about the results of the Greenlandic election, which had just been concluded.,
“The person, that did the best, is a very good person, as far as we’re concerned,” Trump said at the time.
According to TV 2 the recent Trump remark about Jens-Frederik Nielsens suggests, the POTUS apparently does not know who Jens-Frederik Nielsen is.
