Once firmly inside the royal inner circle, Prince Andrew is now on the outside looking in.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, stepped back from royal duties following intense scrutiny over his links to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
Pressure escalated again with the October release of Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, “Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice.”
The book reignited public outrage by restating allegations that Andrew had sex with Giuffre on three occasions when she was younger. Andrew, who reached a financial settlement with Giuffre in 2022, has denied wrongdoing.
In October 2025, he issued a statement renouncing his titles and affiliations, saying the accusations were a distraction.
“I vigorously deny the accusations against me,” he said.
Titles and residence lost
Later that month, Buckingham Palace announced King Charles III had begun removing Andrew’s royal titles and privileges, including his right to live at Royal Lodge.
“Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” the palace said. It added that formal notice had been served to surrender his lease and that he would move to private accommodation.
Despite this, Andrew has yet to leave. Royal author Robert Jobson told HELLO! that he is “kicking his heels” and using legal technicalities to delay moving to a Sandringham property owned by the King.
Focus turns to Kate
As the move looms, sources claim Andrew has become fixated on Princess Kate. The two were once cordial, dating back to her early relationship with Prince William.
“She was always very warm,” a source said. “He believed Kate genuinely liked him. Now, she won’t even look at Andrew.”
The insider claimed Andrew believes Kate used her proximity to King Charles, particularly during his cancer treatment, to influence decisions about Andrew’s future.
“Andrew is absolutely certain that major decisions about his future were run past both Kate and William,” the source alleged. “But instead of blaming William, he’s turned his wrath on Kate.”
Another source said Andrew refers to her as a “silent assassin who quietly pulled the strings,” and claims she is the reason he has been sidelined.
Andrew has not commented publicly on these claims, and palace officials have declined to respond.
