A school in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, has confirmed that a parent of a child was detained by ICE agents while waiting for the school bus at a stop.

The child was reportedly able to board the school bus safely and arrived at school without incident.

In a statement on the Robbinsdale Area Schools website, superintentant Dr. Teri Staloch, acknowledged the emotional impact of the event in a message sent to families across the district.

“We recognize this news can create fear, confusion, and anxiety for students and for adults across the district, not just at the school this incident involved,” Staloch said.

No injuries were reported, and the district said no additional details are being released.

Lawmaker: Abhorrent and un-American

In a statement, Rep. Cedrick Frazier (D) from the Minnesota House of Representatives, said that targeting parents as they perform the basic duty of getting their children to school is “abhorrent and un-American”.

“Our children and their lives are being used as pawns for political theater. This cannot be the new normal. I reject it,” Frazier added.

At the time of publishing, Homeland Security has not yet commented on the reports.
