Hundreds of thousands of compact refrigerators commonly used in bedrooms, dorms and offices are being pulled from the market after safety concerns escalated.
Recall expanded
About 330,000 Frigidaire mini fridges sold in the United States have been recalled, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall expands on a previous safety action announced last year involving additional models.
The affected products are six-can Frigidaire MiniFridges with model number EFMIS121 and serial numbers ranging from A2001 to A2310.
They were sold in red at Target stores and on Target’s website nationwide between January 2020 and October 2023 for around $30.
Fire and burn hazard
The CPSC said the recall was issued due to a risk of fire, burns and smoke inhalation.

According to the agency, Curtis International, the manufacturer, has received six reports of the EFMIS121 model catching fire, resulting in property damage.
The broader issue dates back to an earlier recall in July 2025 involving models EFMIS129, EFMIS137, EFMIS149 and EFMIS175.
In those cases, regulators documented at least 26 incidents involving smoking, sparking, burning, melting or overheating.
Property damage from those incidents exceeded $700,000, and two consumers reported injuries from smoke inhalation, the CPSC said.
What consumers should do
Regulators are urging consumers to stop using the recalled mini fridges immediately.
