Most dogs aren’t exactly thrilled about going to the vet, but it’s a necessary part of keeping them healthy. As a result, many dog owners find creative ways to trick their furry friends into making the trip.

Expected Trip to the Park

One particularly funny moment captures a dog’s realization that he’s been duped, perfectly illustrating this common struggle. In a recently shared video, a dog’s joyful car ride takes a sudden turn when he figures out he's not headed to the park, but to the vet.

The dog in question, an eight-year-old Golden Retriever named Ollie, was initially overjoyed as he hopped into the car with his owner, expecting a fun outing to the park.

But things quickly took a dramatic turn when Ollie realized the destination wasn’t the park at all. His excitement was replaced by an expression of shock as it dawned on him that the car was heading to the vet’s office instead.

Medications Take Effect

Ollie's owner, Chandler Arms from South Carolina, caught the entire reaction on camera and shared it online, showing the hilarious transition in Ollie’s mood. In the clip, you can see the dog's joy fading, his eyes widening in horror as he pieces together that he’s been tricked into a trip he dreads.

While Ollie’s reaction is entertaining, his fear of the vet is very real. In an interview with Newsweek, Chandler explained that Ollie has always been anxious about vet visits.

To help him manage his fear, she gives him a special treat mixed with peanut butter and Trazodone, a medication commonly used to calm dogs who experience stress.

In the video, viewers can see the moment when the medication begins to take effect, leaving Ollie visibly woozy. Despite his dislike of the vet, the sedative helps make the trip more manageable for the nervous Golden Retriever.

According to Chandler, this combination allows her to get Ollie through the vet visits, though his initial reaction remains the same every time.
