A new challenger to the Range Rover is about to hit UK roads. The Jaecoo E5, a strikingly similar-looking SUV from China, promises premium styling and features for less than half the cost of its British rival.

Meet the Jaecoo E5

Set to launch in October, the Jaecoo E5 is the brand’s first fully electric UK model. While visually close to a Range Rover Evoque, its £27,505 starting price makes it one of the cheapest electric SUVs on the market.

A Range Rover for £100k Less

Where a new Range Rover could cost up to £130,000, even the Jaecoo’s highest Luxury trim tops out at just £30,505. That includes extras like a panoramic sunroof and wireless phone charging.

Competitive Electric Powertrain

The E5 packs a 61.1 kWh battery and 207 PS motor, good for 0–62 mph in 7.7 seconds. With a WLTP range of 248 miles, it rivals mainstream EVs like the Audi Q4 E-Tron and Volvo EX30.

Fast Charging on the Go

An 80 kW DC charger allows the Jaecoo to jump from 30% to 80% charge in around 27 minutes. It’s a practical advantage for drivers planning longer trips.

Packed with Tech Features

Inside, the E5 offers a 13.2-inch central display, a 540-degree panoramic camera system, and an array of modern safety technology aimed at reassuring new buyers.

Warranty for Peace of Mind

Every E5 comes with a 7-year/100,000-mile vehicle warranty, plus an 8-year/100,000-mile battery guarantee — matching or even exceeding what many established brands provide.

Building Momentum in the UK

The E5 follows the January debut of the Jaecoo 7 plug-in hybrid. Backed by parent company Chery, Jaecoo is pushing into the UK with models aimed squarely at style- and value-conscious buyers.

A Bold Statement from Jaecoo

Victor Zhang, Jaecoo UK’s country director, said the E5 brings “confident design and adventurous spirit” to the EV segment. With its aggressive pricing, the car could shake up the UK SUV market.

What This Means for Range Rover

As Range Rover prepares to launch its own electric model at more than four times the price, Jaecoo’s budget alternative could tempt buyers looking for luxury looks without the luxury bill.
