Brake Defect Prompts Major Ford SUV Recall

When you’re driving a big SUV, you expect the brakes to work every time.
But Ford has found a serious issue that could make braking harder than it should be.
Because of this, the company is recalling nearly 274,000 vehicles to fix the problem, according to Boosted.
The recall affects the Ford Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator. These are large, heavy SUVs.

The affected models were made between 2022 and 2024. According to Ford, a defect in the front brake lines could put drivers and passengers at risk.
The issue comes from the brake hoses in the front of the vehicle. These hoses might be rubbing against a nearby air filter tube.
Over time, this contact can cause the hoses to wear down. If that happens, brake fluid can start to leak. That can weaken the brakes.
If a lot of brake fluid leaks out, it may take longer for the driver to stop the car. In some cases, the brakes may not work properly at all.
This is a serious safety concern, and Ford reported it to U.S. safety officials.
Ford says the problem comes from the way the hoses were installed at the factory. Some may have been bent the wrong way during production.
The company believes only about one percent of the recalled vehicles actually have the defect. Still, all 273,800 SUVs need to be checked.
Owners of these cars should contact a Ford dealer. A technician will inspect the vehicle.
If needed, the brake hose and the nearby air filter pipe will be replaced. There will be no cost to the customer.
So far, no injuries or accidents have been linked to the problem. Ford says this is a precaution.
The company wants to be sure that every vehicle on the road is safe.
This isn’t Ford’s first recall. Last year, it had to recall 5,000 cars for another serious issue.
Hopefully, this fix keeps everyone safer behind the wheel.
