Ghislaine Maxwell Transferred Following Talk with Deputy Attorney General

Prison transfers in the U.S. aren’t usually major news. But when the inmate is Ghislaine Maxwell, it becomes a story worth watching.

Maxwell was once a powerful socialite. She is now a convicted criminal serving a 20-year sentence for helping Jeffrey Epstein abuse underaged girls.

Downgraded in Security

Maxwell has been moved from a low-security prison in Florida to an even lower-security prison in Bryan, Texas, reports Digi24.

This was confirmed by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons. The reason for the transfer has not been made public.

Prison officials often base these decisions on factors like security needs and inmate behavior. The Texas prison is a minimum-security facility. That means less fencing and fewer guards.

The transfer happened shortly after Maxwell had a meeting with Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche.

He reportedly wanted to talk to her about others who might have been involved in Epstein’s crimes. What they discussed hasn’t been shared with the public.

Trump’s Claims

Donald Trump has said he has the power to pardon Maxwell. But he claims no one has asked him to do so.

In an interview, he said he didn’t know much about her case. Maxwell’s lawyer confirmed she had been moved but gave no more details.

There is growing pressure on the U.S. Justice Department to release more information about Epstein and Maxwell.

This includes court transcripts and police interviews that have not been made public.

Two federal judges are reviewing those requests. Lawyers for Maxwell, Epstein’s estate, and several victims are expected to weigh in soon.

There May Be More to the Story

Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of recruiting young girls for Epstein. She has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn that conviction.

Meanwhile, author Nina Burleigh, who has studied Maxwell for years, suggested there may be more to the story.

She claimed in an interview that Trump could pardon Maxwell at the end of his term and that he may have compromising material. These claims haven’t been confirmed.

Epstein died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial. He had pleaded not guilty.
