Sean Combs Tries to Avoid Prison Time With Presidential Pardon

Asking Trump for Presidential Pardon
Just a month ago, Combs was acquitted of sex trafficking charges. But a New York court did find him guilty of transporting people for prostitution.
The trial was highly publicized, and the verdict shocked many. Now, Combs is trying to avoid a lengthy prison sentence by asking for a presidential pardon, according to Digi24.
His lawyer, Nicole Westmoreland, told CNN that talks have already taken place. She confirmed they have had contact with officials about the possibility of a pardon.
But getting that pardon won’t be easy. Last week, President Donald Trump said in an interview that he would not grant it.
He also called Combs a “very malicious” person in a conversation with Newsmax.
Up to Twenty Years in Prison
This puts Combs in a difficult position. His sentencing is scheduled for October 3. Each conviction could lead to up to ten years in prison.
That means he could face a total of twenty years behind bars if the judge gives the maximum sentence for both charges.
The rapper’s legal team is expected to continue pushing for some kind of relief. But with Trump’s public statement, the chances appear slim.
Presidential pardons are rare and usually controversial. This one may be even more so, given the nature of the case and Trump’s comments.
For now, Combs will have to wait. The final decision on his sentence will be in the hands of the judge.
