Fans expecting a standard Marvel marketing rollout may need to think again.
After weeks of short videos tied to Avengers: Doomsday, the film’s directors are urging viewers to look closer.
The Russo Brothers say the recent releases are not what they appear to be. And they insist every moment matters.
Not what they seem
Following the release of a fourth promotional video, Joe and Anthony Russo addressed fans directly on Instagram.
According to the filmmakers, the clips released over the past month should not be viewed as conventional marketing.

“What you’ve been watching for the last four weeks… are not teasers. Or trailers. They are stories. They are clues… Pay attention.”
The post has intensified speculation around what Marvel is really showing and what it might be hiding.
Family before war
The promotional rollout began with a Steve Rogers-focused video. It shows Chris Evans’ Captain America holding a baby, widely assumed to be his child with Peggy Carter.
Next came a Thor-centered clip. Chris Hemsworth appears as a short-haired Thor, reminiscent of Thor Ragnarok, caring for his adopted daughter, Love. In the footage, Thor prays to Odin, asking for the “strength of the All-Fathers” so he can “fight once more… defeat one more enemy and return home to her.”
Both videos frame legendary heroes in deeply personal moments rather than active combat.

Last stands ahead
Another release shifted tone dramatically. An X-Men-focused video depicts Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops seemingly making a final stand against Sentinels at the X-Mansion.
The Wakandan teaser follows a similar pattern. Shuri, as Black Panther, sets an ominous mood while meeting with the Fantastic Four, suggesting preparations for a major and possibly devastating conflict.
Across the videos, Marvel appears to emphasize legacy, loss, and looming sacrifice.
Clues and countdowns
What the Russos’ message actually means remains unclear. Fans are questioning whether the footage is even from Avengers: Doomsday or if it represents material that will never appear on screen.
Each clip ends with the Avengers logo over a glowing green “Doomsday clock” marked with runes, which many believe holds hidden meaning.

For now, the teaser releases appear to have paused. Marvel has launched an Avengers: Doomsday countdown clock livestream that is already drawing thousands of viewers.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
