MG Foods Recalls Ham & Cotija Torta Sandwich Due to Listeria Risk.

Trending Now

MG Foods is conducting a voluntary recall of its Ham & Cotija Torta Sandwich on Telera Roll sold in Florida, following a related recall by Rizo-López Foods, Inc. of cotija cheese over potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

This recall is part of an ongoing investigation by the FDA into an outbreak linked to the cheese.

Listeria monocytogenes poses a serious health risk, capable of causing life-threatening infections particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems.

While healthy individuals may experience temporary symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, infections can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The affected product, which contains the recalled cheese, was distributed from February 2, 2024, to February 9, 2024, and was available through vending machines and grab-and-go sections at business locations exclusively in Florida.

The product's details, including size, UPC number, container type, use by dates, and location of these dates on the packaging, are provided below for consumer reference.

An image of the product label has also been included to aid in identification.
