Crest Hill Bakery has issued a voluntary recall of more than 800 cases of frozen bread products after a piece of glass was found atop a loaf of seeded bread, the company announced this week.

The contamination was traced back to an ingredient supplier that provided the seeds.

According to the FDA, the recall affects three varieties of bread distributed across six U.S. states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Recalled Products Include

  • Ancient Grains Hoagie Roll, 4-oz frozen rolls, Lot #90
  • Multigrain Sourdough, 18-oz frozen loaves, Lot #90
  • Whole Grain Multigrain, 20-oz frozen loaves, Lot #92

While no injuries have been reported, consumption of the affected products could cause serious harm, including oral lacerations, dental injury, or—in severe cases—intestinal perforation.

Consumers who purchased any of the recalled items are advised to return them to the point of sale or dispose of them immediately. Anyone experiencing adverse symptoms after consuming the bread should seek medical attention.
