Costco members are being urged to check their refrigerators after the retailer issued a recall for two prepared meals supplied by Ventura Foods.

The alert, shared in a recent company letter, warns of possible foreign-matter contamination involving plastic pieces found in the salad dressing included with the products.

Although the affected items are already past their printed sell-by dates, officials say the dressing itself may still be in consumers’ refrigerators and should not be used.

Items affected

The recall covers two ready-to-eat Costco favourites:

  • Caesar Salad (#19927)
  • Chicken Sandwich with Caesar Salad (#11444)

Both products carried sell-by dates from October 17 through November 9, 2025, and were distributed to select Costco stores across the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast regions.

Costco notes that the salad dressing packaged with these meals may contain plastic fragments, creating a potential injury risk for anyone who consumes it.

What consumers should do

Customers who still have either of the recalled meals, or the dressing from those packages, are advised to:

  • Dispose of the product immediately, or
  • Return it to any Costco warehouse for a full refund.

The retailer also recommends contacting a medical professional if you experience any symptoms of injury or discomfort after eating the recalled items.

While the products were not sold nationwide, Costco says members in the affected regions should take the recall seriously, particularly if they tend to keep extra dressing or leftover salad components in their refrigerator.

The company has not reported any confirmed injuries but issued the recall out of caution.
