Rolling Pin chocolate sold at Costco may pose a health risk for people with wheat allergies.

Here’s what to look for and what to do if you bought it.

Costco Issues Recall

Costco has announced a recall affecting a popular dessert item sold across select stores—Rolling Pin Dubai Style Chocolate—due to a labeling error involving allergens.

Check Your Chocolate

The recalled Rolling Pin Dubai Style Chocolate was sold between May 1 and August 29, 2025.

If you’re unsure whether you have the affected product, check the item code #1932972, which is printed above the barcode on the back of the packaging.

What Went Wrong

According to a letter sent to customers, the recall was triggered by a mislabeling in the allergen statement.

It listed “gluten” instead of “wheat”, which is a legally distinct and more specific allergen under food labeling guidelines.

While gluten is a component of wheat, not all consumers with wheat allergies react to gluten alone. And those with a wheat allergy could be at risk if they consume this product.

Minimal Risk

Costco emphasized that the risk is considered “minimal”, noting that the ingredient Kunefa—a known wheat-containing food—is also listed on the packaging.

Still, the labeling error means the product does not meet food safety standards for allergen disclosure.

What to Do If You Purchased It

If you bought Rolling Pin Dubai Style Chocolate at Costco during the affected dates and the item code matches, do not consume it.

You can return it to your local Costco warehouse for a full refund, no receipt required.

Symptoms to Look Out For

Consumers with wheat allergies who accidentally consumed the chocolate should watch for symptoms of anaphylaxis.

This may include hives or skin rash; swelling of the face, lips, or throat; difficulty breathing; nausea or vomiting, and/or abdominal pain.

If symptoms appear, seek emergency medical help immediately by calling 911.
