While many dream of retirement, 101-year-old Ann Angeletti says slowing down isn’t part of her plan.

The New Jersey resident has been running her jewelry store, Curiosity Jewelers, in Cresskill since 1964, and she’s not about to stop now.

“If I retire, I would die. So I cannot stay home,” Ann told ABC 7.

The store is open Tuesday through Saturday, but that doesn’t mean Ann takes Sundays off. On her sixth working day, she drives 30 minutes into Manhattan’s diamond district to keep the business running smoothly.

From Navy Yard to Jeweler

Ann’s work ethic runs deep. As a young girl in Brooklyn, she left school to help at her family’s grocery store.

During World War II, while her husband served in the military, she worked at the Navy Yard and later as a waitress.

But her path shifted in 1964 when she spotted a vacant shop space and rented it for $85 a month. That storefront is still hers — and still open — 60 years later.

Now, with help from her daughter and granddaughter, Ann continues to serve customers.

Her Four Daily Habits for Longevity and Clarity

So what keeps her so energetic at 101? Ann credits four key things she does every single day:

  1. Get up early
  2. Shower and take care of personal hygiene
  3. Eat properly
  4. Exercise and stay active

“If you don’t like what you’re doing, then change,” she added — simple advice from someone who’s lived it.
