The remarks come as the conflict continues to evolve and questions grow over Washington’s long-term objectives, reports Wiadomości.

Victory narrative

John Bolton, Trump’s former national security adviser, said the president is likely to declare success in Iran regardless of how events unfold.

Speaking to Euronews, Bolton argued that political messaging will play a key role in how the conflict is presented.

He suggested Trump would frame the situation as a win even if core objectives remain unresolved.

At the same time, Bolton pointed to significant damage already inflicted on Iran’s leadership and military capabilities.

Regime focus

Bolton said he believes the underlying goal is regime change in Tehran.

“It took them 47 years to build this regime, so no one should be surprised that it didn’t fall in three weeks,” he emphasized.

He added that the situation now depends on divisions within Iran’s leadership.

“It’s about who in the current government is worth cooperating with. Who doesn’t want to go down with the ship, and who will side with the opposition,” he said.

Long-term risks

Despite recent setbacks for Iran, Bolton warned that the threat could quickly return if the current leadership remains in power.

“But if the regime survives, no matter how much damage it has suffered, it will rebuild the nuclear threat, and the terrorist threat will simply return,” he continued.

He argued that abandoning objectives too early could leave the United States in a weaker position than before.

Uncertain outcome

Bolton maintained that achieving regime change is possible but would require time and sustained pressure.

His comments highlight the uncertainty surrounding the next phase of the conflict and the risks tied to incomplete outcomes.

As the situation develops, questions remain over whether U.S. strategy is focused on immediate gains or long-term transformation.
