Did your Thanksgiving meal cost more than last year? If so, you are not alone, poll shows

Thanksgiving is a time for family, good times, and food – lots of it.

But as food prices continue to rise, preparing the feast of the year can be a costly affair, and a fresh poll from YouGov shows that American households had to fork out more for this year’s Thanksgiving meal than in 2024.

More than 4 in 10 paid more

According to the poll, conducted on Dec. 1, 42% of the 1,233 respondents answered that their primary Thanksgiving meal cost more per person in 2025 compared to last year.

Twenty-five percent said it cost about the same, and only 11% said it cost less than last year.

Both Dems and Reps felt the pinch

Diving deeper into the numbers, we see that the picture becomes a bit more blurred when taking political alignment into account.

Among Democrats, 50% said their main Thanksgiving meal cost much or somewhat more than last year.

For Republicans, 38% answered the same.

At the other end of the spectrum, only 6% of Democrats said their meal cost somewhat or much less than last year, with 16% of Republicans giving that answer.
