Elon Musk, the world's richest man, and musician Grimes have discreetly added another member to their family, according to a new biography set to be released next week.
The couple, who separated in 2021 but expressed a desire to continue expanding their family, have named their third child Techno Mechanicus. However, the family prefers to call him by the nickname Tau.
The biography, which also features in the New York Times, has brought this private joy into the public eye. While the couple's first child, born in May 2020, was initially named X Æ A-12, they later changed it to X Æ A-Xii.
Their second child, a daughter named Exa Darl, is affectionately called Y. Despite their separation last year, Grimes mentioned in a Vanity Fair interview that they wanted "at least three or four" children.
The name Techno Mechanicus has raised eyebrows, adding another layer of intrigue to Musk's already unconventional naming choices for his children.
The name Tau, according to Musk, represents a circumference or diameter, although he did not elaborate further.
This new addition brings Musk's total number of children to 11, shared with three different women.
While the couple has been through an on-again, off-again relationship, Grimes has described Musk as her "best friend and the love of [her] life."
