American film star Dana Carvey is in deep mourning. On Wednesday, his eldest son, Dex, passed away due to a drug overdose at the young age of 32.

This was reported by Page Six, which confirmed the death through an official statement from the family.

Dana Carvey is known for his role in the film "Wayne's World" and was part of the cast of "Saturday Night Live" for seven seasons from 1986 to 1993.

In the statement, he and his wife, Paula, said the following about the tragic loss of their son:

"Dex achieved a lot in his 32 years. He was extremely talented in many things such as music, art, and comedy, and he pursued all these things with great passion. He was a beautiful person, and we will miss him forever."

According to TMZ, it was Dex's girlfriend, Kaylee, who called the police on Thursday evening because she was concerned about the celebrity son.

When officers and emergency personnel arrived at his home, they found him locked in the bathroom. They broke down the door and found him lifeless.

Despite attempts at life-saving first aid, he was declared dead at the scene.
