The human and global cost could be immense.
Once the ballots are counted in a major election, the political mood in Washington often shifts overnight.
Decisions that were quietly put on hold during the campaign trail suddenly land back on the table.
Now, a prominent conservative voice is sounding the alarm over a move that could reshape global security within days.
Target in granite
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson claims that US President Donald Trump could soon order a nuclear attack on Iran right after this week’s midterm elections, according to the Irish Star.
Before Carlson’s warning, Senator Chris Murphy noted he had been briefed on administration plans that he called “devastating for our security interests”.
Posting on X, Carlson wrote: “Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program.”
Conventional bombs simply cannot reach the site, Carlson added on X.
“No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. ‘Bibi calls Trump about it every day,’ says an informed observer.”
Pressure behind doors
According to the Irish Star, Carlson linked Netanyahu’s “desperation” to recent Israeli elections that cost his party its parliamentary majority.
He claimed the Israeli leader “must stay close to Trump” and “needs this war” so the US president will step into Israeli politics and help him hold onto power.
Both Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM chief Brad Cooper have also faced lobbying from Netanyahu, Carlson alleged. Citing “close observers”, the commentator reported that Trump will decide by Saturday, November 7, whether to greenlight a nuclear strike, even as Vice President JD Vance and envoy Steve Witkoff push for diplomacy instead.
Fears of fallout
The human and global cost could be immense.
According to Carlson, a strike could poison water supplies for “100 million people” and spark a wider chain reaction where Russia uses nuclear arms in Ukraine, while Pakistan and India or North and South Korea trade blows.
Those warnings echo wider nerves in Washington, the Irish Star reported. Just last week, a military strategist admitted she was “terrified” that the president might use a “tactical nuke somewhere”.
