Former Russian mayor, in prison on bribery charges, reportedly goes to fight in Ukraine

Former Vladivostok Mayor Oleg Gumenyuk, who was serving a prison sentence for bribery charges, reportedly signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry and has joined the fight in Ukraine.

This information was reported by Kommersant and RIA Novosti, which cited sources familiar with the situation.

A photograph published by local media purportedly shows Gumenyuk in military uniform, armed and surrounded by other servicemen. Gumenyuk was the mayor of Vladivostok from April 2019 to May 2021.
