German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius visited Kyiv and condemned Russia’s recent airstrikes on Ukraine.

He called the attacks “extremely violent and threatening,” according to dpa, cited by Agerpres.

Pistorius said the attacks show that Moscow is not interested in a peaceful solution and continues to attack with force, increasingly targeting civilian areas.

Earlier this week, Ukraine reported the largest Russian drone attack since the war began more than three years ago. Russian forces launched 479 Shahed drones, along with several cruise and hypersonic missiles, according to dpa.

Pistorius said his visit shows the new German government’s ongoing support for Ukraine. Germany is the second largest supplier of military aid to Ukraine, after the United States.

Pistorius and British Defense Minister John Healey have taken leading roles in providing military help to Ukraine. Support from the United States under President Donald Trump remains uncertain.

At a meeting in Brussels, Pistorius called for stronger international efforts to improve Ukraine’s air defenses.

He also spoke about the importance of electronic warfare. This includes protecting Ukrainian communications, gathering intelligence, jamming Russian signals, and defending against drone attacks.
