Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed on Thursday that the country’s nuclear facilities sustained “significant” damage during the 12-day conflict with Israel.
He said that Iranian authorities have started assessing the full impact of the attacks, according to AFP, as reported by Agerpres.
Assessment Underway by Iranian Experts
Speaking on state television, Araghchi said that experts from Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization are conducting a detailed review of the damage.
“These damages are significant,” he stated, adding that the situation requires both expert analysis and political decisions.

He also indicated that the Iranian government is making damage assessment a top priority in the current political agenda.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has requested access to Iranian nuclear sites to conduct its own assessment.
However, Araghchi said that Iran is moving forward with legislation to suspend cooperation with the UN nuclear agency.
“There is no doubt about the application of this law,” he said. “From now on, our relationship and cooperation with the Agency will take a different form.”
Earlier this week, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that American airstrikes had completely destroyed Iran’s key nuclear sites. He also said that nuclear negotiations with Tehran would resume “next week.”
In response, Araghchi said there is no concrete plan yet for resuming talks.
