Karl Rove Says Colorado Ban is a Big Benefit for Trump.

Trending Now

In a recent discussion on "America's Newsroom," Fox News contributor Karl Rove addressed the implications of Colorado's decision to use the 14th Amendment to ban former President Donald Trump from the state's 2024 ballots. Rove, a seasoned political strategist, argued that this move is "unfair" and could ultimately backfire on the Democrats in the upcoming presidential election.

Rove expressed his belief that the Supreme Court is likely to overwhelmingly strike down the ban.

He emphasized that this situation could politically benefit the former president, making him the "center of attention" and portraying him as a victim of partisan unfairness. According to Rove, such a portrayal could elicit sympathy and support for Trump, as it frames him as being on the receiving end of unjust political targeting.

The discussion also touched upon the broader context of similar actions being undertaken in 15 states. Rove pointed out that in 12 of these states, plaintiffs have withdrawn their suits, recognizing their weak legal standing.

He highlighted the historical context of the 14th Amendment, noting that it has rarely been invoked in such a manner and that it does not explicitly mention the word "president."

Rove also shared his personal views on the events of January 6th, disapproving of the actions that took place and Trump's response to them. However, he questioned the sufficiency of the evidence required by the 14th Amendment to label Trump as having engaged in insurrection or rebellion.

President Biden, when asked about Trump's role in the January 6th events, stated that there is "no question" that Trump supported an insurrection. Biden, however, deferred to the court to decide on the applicability of the 14th Amendment in this case.

This development in Colorado's political landscape and the ensuing debate highlight the ongoing complexities and tensions in American politics, particularly as the nation approaches another presidential election cycle.
