An allegation involving two high-profile figures has prompted a police investigation in Australia. Authorities have confirmed they are examining claims linked to an incident said to have taken place more than a decade ago.
According to TV2 News, citing The Guardian, Australian police are investigating an allegation that singer Katy Perry assaulted actress Ruby Rose at a Melbourne nightclub in 2010.
Police inquiry
Victoria Police said its specialist unit is handling what it described as an alleged historical sexual assault.
In a statement, investigators confirmed the case is being reviewed but declined to provide further details due to the ongoing nature of the inquiry.
The incident is said to have taken place at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne.
Allegation emerges
Ruby Rose publicly raised the accusation earlier this week in a social media comment.
“Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who cares what she thinks,” she wrote.
She later indicated that she had planned to formally report the alleged incident to authorities.
Response issued
Katy Perry, through a spokesperson, has strongly denied the claim.
The statement described the allegation as “dangerous and reckless lies.”
The spokesperson also said: “Ruby Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public accusations on social media against various individuals, allegations that have been repeatedly denied by those named.”
Public silence
Following her initial comments, Rose said she would not discuss the matter further.
“This afternoon I have completed all my reviews. This means I can no longer comment, repost or speak publicly about any of these cases or the people involved (…) I can now begin the healing process. And temporarily move on,” she wrote.
The investigation remains ongoing, with no further details released by authorities.
