"Kraken" – Ukraine's most dangerous warriors.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently took to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to express his gratitude to a special unit known as "Kraken."

But what sets this unit apart from the others?

A special acknowledgment from the President

President Zelensky specifically thanked the Kraken unit for their "exceptionally strong" capabilities and "outstanding results."

They have been active in various regions, including Kharkiv, Soledar, Bakhmut, Kupyansk, and the north of Ukraine.

Interestingly, the Kraken unit was established on the very day Russia invaded Ukraine—February 24, 2022. Comprising former members of the well-known Azov unit, Kraken is often seen as Azov's younger sibling.

According to Washington Post, Commander Konstantin V. Nemitschew is no stranger to the political landscape. Before even completing his college education, he was involved in the right-wing National Corps party.

He even ran for Mayor of Kharkiv in 2021, although unsuccessfully. His unit now includes many young supporters who were once "rowdy football fans."

The unit has been tasked with particularly challenging missions, and according to President Zelensky, they have delivered outstanding results. This makes them one of the most formidable units in the Ukrainian defense forces.
